Talked about not just “putting this Excel” spreadsheet into Tableau, but really adding value and insights, but also making sure we understand how the users want to interrogate the dashboard.
Looked at how we can configure the axis on a chart – fixing the scale, include zero’s and also using a reference line to dynamically change the maximum size of the axis.
We then looked at some ways we can drill down in Tableau:
1) Using a simple “Navigate to” another dashboard that has different, or more, levels of detail
2) Navigating and filtering to another dashboard based upon the selection we made on the first dashboard
3) Navigating to a third-party web application and filtering based on the selections we’ve made in our dashboard for example navigating to a patient administration system (PAS) or a customer relationship management system (CRM).
