In this session we reviewed aggregating dimensions using MIN, MAX and ATTR – the what, the why and the how. One of the main reasons is to overcome the most common error message “cannot mix aggregate and non-aggregate measures…”
We also talked about using calculated fields for things other than creating KPI’s – such as grouping dimensional categories with similar attributes and colour coded labels & tooltips.
Lastly there was a discussion on trying to meet the large variation of user requirements and keeping them engaged with Tableau the platform, at the right time.
It’s important to give people what they want….and also slip in what they need…
